Microsoft Copilot is the strongest AI assistant for organizations already committed to Microsoft 365. The native integration means no new tool adoption, no data migration, and no workflow disruption. If your team runs on Word, Excel, and Teams daily, Copilot reduces the time spent on document drafting, meeting follow-up, and data analysis without asking anyone to change how they work.

The cost reality matters. Adding $21 per seat per month to an existing Microsoft 365 Business subscription is a meaningful line item for large teams. The value case is strongest for knowledge workers who spend significant time in meetings, drafting documents, and working with complex spreadsheets. For teams that primarily use Google Workspace or have less structured Microsoft 365 data, the contextual features that make Copilot genuinely useful will not land the same way.

Microsoft Copilot is Microsoft's AI assistant built directly into the Microsoft 365 suite. It works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and Loop. When you ask Copilot to draft a proposal in Word, it uses context from your recent emails and meetings to write something relevant to your actual work. When you ask it to summarize a Teams call, it generates a transcript summary with action items attributed to specific speakers. This contextual awareness across your organization's data is what separates Copilot from a generic AI chatbot.

The business plans require the Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on at $21 per seat per month billed annually, added on top of an existing Microsoft 365 Business subscription. A promotional rate of $18 per seat per month extended through December 2026 is available for eligible customers. For consumers, the standalone Copilot Pro plan was retired in August 2026 and replaced by Microsoft 365 Premium at $19.99 per month.

Business Chat is the feature that enterprise users find most transformative. It searches across your entire Microsoft 365 environment, emails, calendar, meetings, documents, and chats to answer questions like "what did we discuss with the client last Tuesday?" or "summarize the key risks in the Q3 proposal." The answer draws from your actual organizational data, not generic training data.
